Mushk Kaleem

and height, she has quite literally towered over her contemporaries. The 25-year-old model has had an illustrious 2019, bagging the Lux Style Award for Best Emerging Talent in Fashion while also being the very first Pakistani model to ever walk at the Milan Fashion Week.  

Sheheryar Munawar

Parey Hut Love — 2019’s most anticipated movie and successful project has established Sheheryar as not only the country’s most bankable film star but also a savvy producer; bringing together a host of superstars for a single project. The actor not only impressed critics with his acting ability — playing a challenging role of a struggling actor but also

emerged as a chocolate hero; the Pakistani cinema was in dire need of. With his boy next door appeal and a charming personality, Sheheryar is definitely one actor to look forward to in the new year.

 

Ayeza Khan

The reigning queen television, Ayeza Khan enjoyed an unprecedented success in the year 2019, delivering one superhit project after another. From playing the damsel in distress in Koi Chaand Rakh to the wicked sister in Yaariyan, the starlet has proven that she’s not just a pretty face but also multifaceted actor. 

With the blockbuster and the drama that’s going in the history books — Mere Paas Tum Ho, Ayeza cemented her position at the top as the biggest star of the year, towering over her competitors.

 

Walid Siddiqui

The tall and dapper Walid Siddiqui has undoubtedly established himself as the most successful male model this year — bagging several campaigns of the country’s most esteemed brands while also walking the ramp for many designers. The uber charming Floridian boy who started his career from the city of lights, Karachi, shifted to Lahore in 2019 

surprising many in the industry however this move has definitely worked in his favour. Adding another success this year, Walid signed up with a leading Middle Eastern talent agency and will now be seen working the global fashion world. 

Shaniera Akram

Pakistan is reinventing itself as we speak, we are experiencing cultural revolution, the “turn a blind eye” days are over and if you are not out there helping our country be great by doing your bit then you will be left behind.  Today’s Pakistan is about doing the right thing, helping because it feels good, following the rules and giving without expecting to receive.  

I have played my part and will continue to do so, I’m here for the long haul and I will do everything in my power to make my existence worth it and contribute to the development and betterment of our nation and its people.

 

Ahsan Khan

One of the most celebrated actors in the country with a massive fan following, Ahsan Khan is known not only for his challenging roles but also his philanthropic activities. The Udaari actor has been associated with multiple organistaions focusing on various social causes such as child protection and welfare, women empowerment, and rehabilitation of sexual abuse 

survivors. In 2019, he was named as the brand ambassador for Human Development Foundation (HDF) and was also awarded for his humanitarian services. Similarly, he was also named ambassador for the Punjab government’s Child Protection and Welfare Bureau.

 

Rhyan Thomas

Rhyan is certainly one of the leading hair and makeup artists of the country; having rightfully earned his spot among the best. Working on major campaigns along with creating memorable looks for his muses; he is a favourite not only among the top brands but also

some of the biggest celebrities such as  Ayeza Khan, Sana Javed and Ahad Raza Mir as well as fashion favourites like Roshanay and Kiran Malik; whom he transformed through a series of innovative beauty editorials 

Fahmeen Ansari

From 2018’s rising star to a supermodel in 2019; Fahmeen has had a dream run this year and doesn’t seem to slow down any time soon. The green-eyed beauty has worked with the country’s biggest names ranging from top photographers to mainstream clothing brands; becoming the reigning queen of print. 

She has also made a name for herself as a runway constant; opening shows for several designers at various fashion weeks given her opulent aura and a swaying walk.

 

 

Maha Jawed

Easy by Fatsos has won its fans quite easily in Karachi! Maha Jawed is the super talented brain behind it! Whether it’s the doughnuts that one goes chasing after or the delicious pizzas and hotdogs, Easy has definitely been a super hit this year! Offering 

a wide variety of scrumptious options on the menu, the cozy café is not only known for its food but also a fancy neon sign reading ‘Who run the world’

Khaadi and Desi Gali joined hands and out came Kanteen — the first dine-in space nestled inside the Khaadi flagship store in Karachi, offering you a tantalising shopping experience, like never before! Karachiites can now enjoy delicious street food by Desi Gali, in an ambience that will leave you inspired! 

The gol gappa shots were the first to become a major hit among the locals along with an assortment of scrumptious food items has had its fans flocking over — making it one of the most successful food ventures of 2019.

 

Amna Ilyas

The model-turned-actor Amna Ilyas, floored everyone with her acting skills and screen presence with leading roles in the movies Baaji and Ready Steady No. In the year’s sleeper hit Baaji, Amna quite marvellously played her character opposite the acting powerhouse Meera Jee; winning applause from the audience and 

critics alike. She also has spoken against discrimination based on colour within the industry and has since raised her voice for the same on many platforms.

 

Imran Ashraf

Delivering one of the most powerful performances in recent times, Imran Ashraf has proven himself as an actor for ages to come with his impactful portrayal of a specially-abled man in the iconic drama series Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. Playing the character Bhola, Ashraf challenged the clichéd idea of a ‘hero’ 

’ and has left a strong mark in the drama industry in 2019 and for many years to come, with a performance that was definitely for the books.

Imran Hunzai

The Popular Choice Award at the second edition of the Karachi Biennale (KB19) was bagged by Imran Hunzai, voted by the public through KB19 Visitor’s Guide App. Imran Hunzai’s installation for KB19 at Karachi Zoo transformed inorganic materials into a beautiful artwork, as opposed to their intended

function to be used in vertical towers of concrete and metal, ushered by the industrial revolution and how art infuse life into heartless objects and society.

 

Muhammad Zeeshan

Muhammad Zeeshan is a critically acclaimed Visual Artist, Curator and Educator. In October 2019, he curated Karachi Biennale 2019, Pakistan’s largest international art event that transformed the city of Karachi into a public art museum, situating art in various public parks, educational institutes and gallery spaces across the city. Over 90 artists, local and international were invited by Zeeshan to participate in the Biennale that was seen by  

He is also co-founder of the Kaifwala Foundation that orchestrated the fourth successful iteration of Bunvat International Festival, highlighting, celebrating and promoting Performing Arts that are entrenched in local culture.

 

Nubain Ali

Nubain has helmed one of the biggest fashion weeks of the country Fashion Pakistan Week as a show director and choreographer— bringing not only each collection to life but also grooming several future supermodels in the process. Being a successful corporate executive, he first ventured into

fashion as part of sister Wardha Saleem’s clothing brand and later debuted as a show director for FPW — adding an international flair to our local runway. 

Mehreen Syed

From the country’s leading supermodel to a renowned philanthropist, Mehreen Syed has set an example for many by using her platform for greater welfare of the society. Being involved in various social causes, Mehreen has been working tirelessly for women empowerment and skill development with an aim to make women capable of earning their own livelihood and achieve financial independence. Through her 

organisation, iCare, the former supermodel seeks to empower the oppressed and marginalised women through education and skills, to counter the imbalances at the every level, and become more productive by generating income for sustainable empowerment.

 

Abid Ali

Abid Ali was an actor, director and producer. Ali acted in numerous television dramas and films but is best known for his role as Dilawar Khan in the PTV’s classic drama Waris. Born and educated in Quetta, he was attracted to the arts from a very early age, always found writing stories and painting in his childhood and teenage years. He first entered Radio Pakistan 

before going to Lahore after some struggle and launching his successful TV career with PTV’s drama serial Jhok Sial in 1973. He passed away on 5 September 2019 due to liver failure while in Karachi, aged 67.

 

Roohi Bano

Roohi Bano was an actor who was the daughter of Alla Rakha, a tabla player and step-sister of Indian music virtuoso Ustad Zakir Hussain. Roohi joined television when she was doing her Masters in Psychology from the Government College, Lahore. She acted memorably in Kiran Kahani, Zard Gulab, Darwaza and many other countless famous dramas in the decade of 1970s and 1980s. 

She was conferred the Pride of Performance award by the President of Pakistan in 1981. She also earned many PTV awards, notably Nigar Award, Graduate Award and Lux Lifetime Achievement Award.
