Solar Panel Setups and Brands for Home in Pakistan

by Grazia

Energy is much needed and is just as tricky to source, process and supply. There are so many issues with all these steps that it makes it impossible to be done efficiently. Today, though, there is somewhat of a solution. Solar panels have slowly become a source that is cheaper and has lesser of an impact on our climate. This works for sunny countries like ours better too as even a little bit of shade can affect the amount of power being produced by the panels. Pakistan does have ample sun to make use of.

Smart meters
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) also allows for net metering, which means if one is generating more power than they need the extra power is sent back into the power grid and it gets credited into the homeowners bill. As the technology gets older it is also getting cheaper. One would need a smart meter at their home, if they do not already have it, for this to be possible.

What all goes into a solar power generation set up
To set up one needs solar panels, a charge controller, an inverter and tubular batteries. These kinds of batteries work better for solar power storage. The panels gather sunlight and convert it the charge controller makes sure the batteries do not overcharge and the inverter is needed to convert DC power into AC power. The batteries work like they do in a UPS set up and store the power for you to use later. Tubular batteries are also produced in Pakistan by Osaka, Phoneix and others.

Known brands that make solar panels
There are so many producers that make solar panels  and even more join the ranks as solar is the new direction of power generation. Some of the known and budget-friendly brands include JinkoSolar, Canadian Solar and Trina Solar. The amount of power a panel generates depends on not just its size but also how the layers are constructed.

JinkoSolar is a Chinese brand and is currently the largest producer of solar panels in the world. Their variety is vast, with many different lines and production in multiple countries across the world. Canadian Solar is based in Canada and is among the top producers as well. They too have production concerns all across the globe. Trina Solar is the oldest out of these three known names, again a brand from China. To buy jinkosolar in Pakistan, you can visit Shopsy, daraz or Pakistani stores and easily compare prices of different products.

These three brands have comparable products and also prices. The scale of production allows them to be very competitive. The panels themselves are mid-range in prices. Making them somewhat affordable.

Why solar is taking over in Pakistan?
For years Pakistan has dealt with a lack of power supply. Loadshedding is the bane of our existence in summer. Not just that the rates of electricity have become exorbitant, worse yet they are not stable. Arrears get added off random and people are left wondering why their new bill is three times their last bill.

The complete solar set up is not cheap when one takes into account the batteries and installation but despite this fact people who can are moving to it. There are also a lot of places that do not have a proper power supply, there people are opting for smaller setups to keep their homes lit.

Being off the grid and not having to rely on a system that is clearly not working well is a great incentive to move to solar. The initial high cost is made up for in a few years while paying electric bills is a never-ending issue especially when there is so much fluctuation. People prefer having their own stable set up. In a while, the system would pay for itself and even pay one’s electric bills. A system large enough would essentially make one a small scale producer.

The largest reason at certain levels of society is the damages that conventional power generation has on the earth. The carbon footprint is growing too fast, the earth will not be able to make up for the damage as it has in the past and eventually, people will suffer more. Solar panels mitigate a large part of this damage. They are tapping into a source that is essentially free to us and will be available for quite a long time.

Clean energy is the future of technology and the world, everyone is competing to make more progress. One of the markers of progress is the amount of power generated from clean sources, currently solar is the most efficient form we have available commercially all over the world. This itself is a reason that feeds the cross over from conventional to solar.
