Five Things We Loved About The Ending of Sabaat

by Maria Tahir

The blockbuster drama came to an end last Sunday leaving behind a bittersweet ending, life lessons and yet another drama we will remember for years to come

Penned down by Kashif Anwar and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri, Sabaat had been in news since the very beginning given its major ensemble cast led by Mawra Hocane, Sarah Khan, Usman Mukhtar and newcomer Ameer Giliani. While the drama had its share of ups and down, plot twists and memorable moments, here are the five things we loved about its ending.

Answer for workplace harassment

There is always pressure and inequality for women working in a male-centric society and the need to deliver a well-packaged serial is greater than ever. In Sabaat, we have seen how brilliantly and bravely Anaya (Mawra Hocane) confronted her boss and delivered a motivational quote to inspire women to raise their voices against workplace harassment.

The strong portrayal of women

Generally, under the veil of domestication, women are portrayed as weak and submissive in Pakistani dramas. With Sabaat, the case is different as it portrayed a strong, resilient, and optimistic Pakistani woman who not only fights against the odds but also holds a firm grip on her morals.

The chemistry

One of the major reasons the drama became a huge success was the on-screen chemistry between it’s lead pair acted by Mawra Hocane and Ameer Gilani who after a long time made a well-matched couple as the story traced their love story. Another couple on the show played by Sarah Khan and Usman Mukhtar although shared a more complicated relationship, the last episode made you fall in love with this pair just as much.

Relationships are not a business

The unforgettable dialogues in Sabaat have helped to build the characters of the drama. The life lessons associated with the words have an immense effect on the scenes. The finale has quite a few strong moments like a scene where Dr. Haris, said that relationship is not a business, we need to hold it forever while supporting Miral.

Forgiveness is the key to happiness
The finale reminds us that forgiveness helps us to heal and accept an unsaid apology. Sometimes we need to forgive and forget to move on in life. Similarly, Sabaat with its textbook ‘happily ever after’ has left behind a spark and encourages audience to let go of the hurt caused by others.
