Five struggles every dog parent can relate to

Dogs are the best aren’t they? There’s something wonderful about being a dog owner that’s hard to explain to non-dog owners

When you boil it down; living with a dog is a one of a kind experience because you have this creature who will love you unconditionally simply for the fact that you are you. I could disappoint every person in my life but at the end of the day, I know my dog loves me more than anything in the world.

But even as wonderful as dogs are, there are struggles that come with taking care of them, but if I’m being honest I would put up with these issues any time if it meant spending more time with my best friend. Sentimentalities aside, these are five struggles every dog owner goes through:

They’ll eat just about anything

Why is it that dogs will put whatever is in front of them in their mouths? On one hand, it’s nice having what is essentially a Roomba eating any food I waste but on the other hand, I can’t have her eating up that random piece of plastic I dropped and forgot to pick up

Its takes a while to potty train them

It’s a little unfair to put this on the list because dogs aren’t the only ones that need to be taught how to pee or poop. It’s also a struggle to teach kids to do the same but somehow it’s more of a struggle because even after you teach them, you’re still stuck with monitoring their bowels! Usually it takes around 4 months to truly make them understand where they can do their business and where not.

Bathing the monsters

One of the few hells that a dog owner is tasked with is the act of cleaning our furry friends. Whether you have a small dog or a big one, they both come with their own exclusive troubles. Big dogs are these huge hulking teddy bears that treat water as the devils liquid whereas small dog are skittish and can give you a full blown workout chasing them around.

Taking the poor thing to the VET

It’s a huge pain to make a dog take medicine or to take them to the vet. My dog is dumb as bricks but even she knows ahead of time when it’s time to take her to the vet.  Also let’s not forget, it really does suck when your dog is sick mainly because it hurts to see such a pure soul struggling.

Leaving them behind when going on a trip

Lastly, one of the most painful struggles dog owners have is leaving your dog at home when you’re going for a trip. The poor baby has no concept of vacations or trips so every time you have to leave, it never will truly understand that you’re coming back. I think most dog owners would agree that if we could, we’d probably take our dogs everywhere!
