Five Movie Adaptations That Are Actually Better Than Their Books

by Hafsa Tariq

We all know a few people who are always debating upon how books are always better than the movies and we can agree on some of them, but a cinematic adaption of a novel can sometimes do more justice to the written material than the books themselves. So this time we have decided to put a light on a few movies which were a lot better than the books they were based on.

Jaws

The novel jaws was a big hit of its time but when the cinematic version of this novel came out  people couldn’t stop themselves from watching this blockbuster movie again and again and a few of them were even scared to go in the water for quite a long time. Be it the shark scenes which were timed to perfection or Robert Shaw’s performance, this movie was way ahead of its time and one of the greatest shark movies ever made.

The Notebook

We can simply not deny the fact that the notebook was and is one of the best romantic novels ever written, well let’s just say when it comes to writing love stories Nicholas Sparks actually knows how to put magic into his words, but the way Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling brought their characters to life made the movie not just emotional but the intensity of this movie was on another level.

The Godfather

This book the godfather had a lot of unnecessary rambling and subplots but when the movie came out it became a cinematic masterpiece. The focus it put on the main story is what captured people’s attention and the musical soundtrack of this movie was the cherry on top.

The Princess Bride

Although the book was a total disappointment with lack of humour, the colourful cast and quirky plot line, the movie was the complete opposite of it. The princess bride, as a movie became a big hit and it made everyone believe in fairy tales.

The Lord of the Rings

Now this has been stated quite a few times that the books of the lord of the rings is overly detailed with needless double climax. Whereas Peter Jackson’s adaption of this book as a film boasted the storyline and brought some of the best action sets to the human eye.
