Kaniz: Talk to us about your background.
Rosh: I am a proud British Pakistani woman, born and raised in Manchester by my incredible mother who was both my anchor and my inspiration. Dentistry has always been my dream, but early on, it was
a dream met with resistance. My school did not believe in my potential and refused to support my application. I pivoted to study psychology, all the while keeping dentistry firmly in focus.
By my third year, I applied to dental school against all odds. Only one university granted me an interview. I studied relentlessly, taught myself what I needed to know, and earned my place. From there, I immersed myself in the art and science of cosmetic dentistry, with a particular passion for composite. Under the guidance of brilliant mentors, I developed the ability to create natural, lifelike smile transformations that feel as real as they look.
That journey eventually led to LUME, a clinic where ethical innovation meets aesthetic excellence.
Being named Best Young Dentist in the North West in 2024 felt like more than an accolade. It was a personal affirmation of resilience, focus, and belief in my own vision.
Kaniz: What inspired you to become a dentist?
Rosh: From a young age, I was drawn to
a profession that would allow me to make a meaningful impact on others—both physically and emotionally. Dentistry, particularly cosmetic dentistry, offers the unique opportunity to restore not just smiles, but also confidence and self- esteem. As a woman, I was also inspired by the independence and strength that come with building a career in a respected field— one that enables me to support myself while making a difference in people’s lives. However, my greatest motivation has always been my mother. Incredibly intelligent and ambitious, she once dreamed of joining the medical profession. But marrying young and having me at 19 meant she had to set those aspirations aside. Knowing this, I’ve always felt a deep sense of purpose in pursuing dentistry—not only to achieve my own goals, but also to honor the opportunities she never had.
What do you specialize in?
What I do is highly specialized. I am extensively trained in creating natural and lifelike smile makeovers using advanced composite techniques. This particular treatment and workflow is unique to my clinic, LUME, and can only be performed by a select few clinicians worldwide. It has contributed to a growing shift in cosmetic dentistry, where patients are increasingly drawn to subtle, natural-looking smile enhancements rather than artificial results. The process involves layering multiple shades of composite to mimic the depth, texture, and translucency of real teeth. Each case is finished with a glasslike polish that gives a refined, porcelain-like appearance. Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, this method is completely noninvasive, requires no drilling, and provides a more accessible
yet equally beautiful outcome. The entire transformation is completed in just a day and a half, with results that are comparable in longevity and aesthetics to porcelain veneers.
Kaniz: What are your greatest strengths as a dentist?
Rosh: As a dentist, my greatest strengths are rooted in compassion, a commitment to continuous improvement, and an unwavering dedication to excellence. Compassion and empathy are at the heart of my practice. Understanding that dental visits can be intimidating, I focus on creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard, comfortable, and well cared for. My passion for growth drives me to constantly refine my skills, ensuring that I provide the best possible care. Above all, I maintain a standard of excellence in everything I do, delivering world-class dentistry and care to every patient. These who is also my business partner, I gained the confidence to take the plunge. Over the years, I worked in many practices, and while the treatments were always of a high standard, I felt that the patient experience and environment could be improved. I wanted to take full control of the patient journey from the moment they picked up the phone to the final treatment, ensuring that every step was seamless and left a lasting, positive impact. Opening a state of the art clinic felt like the next logical step, where patients could experience world class care in a beautiful, comfortable setting.
What services does the clinic offer?
At our clinic, we offer a broad range of services designed to meet the needs of every patient. From routine hygiene
and gold standard general dentistry to high-end, specialized aesthetic cosmetic dentistry, we provide comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of oral health. Our treatments also include implants, as well as aesthetic services such as skincare and dermal fillers. Every clinician at LUME is carefully selected for their expertise in a specific area, ensuring we deliver the highest level of care and experience available.
Kaniz: What motivates you?
Rosh: My motivation initially stemmed from being told I couldn’t do something I knew I could. That challenge ignited a fire within me to prove that I could achieve my goals. Over time, being surrounded by excellent clinicians has fueled my drive to never settle for mediocrity.
My motivation now comes from always striving to do my best, providing the highest level of care, and making a meaningful impact on my patients’ lives. Additionally, I am motivated by my desire to excel in all aspects of life, including becoming the best businesswoman I can be. At this stage, I am also deeply driven by the goal of creating a life that my parents and children will be proud of, while ensuring I can care for them in the way I have always wanted to.
Kaniz: What do you enjoy most about being a dentist?
Rosh: What I love most about being a dentist is the opportunity to blend artistry with patient care. There’s something principles fuel my dedication to offering the highest level of treatment in every aspect of my work.
Kaniz: What inspired you to open your own clinic?
Rosh: Initially, the idea of opening my own clinic was quite daunting. Being a skilled clinician is one thing, but being a successful businesswoman requires an entirely different set of skills. However, with the encouragement and support of my partner
