Dating in the time of COVID-19

by Nashmia Amir Butt

How difficult it must be to be dating and not being able to meet your partner every day, or every other day… for an indefinte period! We dont know when things will go back to normal. No one’s sure when they will be able to step out of their houses freely. Here’s a list of 5 things you and your partner can do together while you arent able to be TOGETHER!

NETFLIX PARTY!
It’s cute, its fun, and you get to spend good quality time together, even if you arent right next to each other. Have movie nights, get yourself popcorn, set up your tv, pick a movie together and there you go – thats a perfect quarantine date night!

ONLINE GAMES!
I’ve been hearing a lot about this but havent gotten the chance to do it my self as yet. But this is a way of bonding and distracting yourself. Put on Ludo Star or Quizup and enjoy an hour or two of quality game time with your partner. Let’s see who wins!

WRITE LETTERS!
Now is our chance to go back to the good old days where handwritten letters were everything! Write to each other, dont send each other the letters just yet (coronavirus safety precautions need to be taken in account)… but the fact that you’ll be able to put them all in one box and give them to your partner when this is all over – will surely be something beautiful!

WORK OUT!
Zoom workouts are the THING these days. You both can encourage each other to work out together! It’s good quality time being spent and its good for your mind and body. Set up a workout plan for each week and follow it together. This way you get to motivate one another and you get to do an activity together!

EMBRACE THIS PERIOD
Dating, in the new age, has become so fast pace just like all our lives have. Every day theres a plan, theres date night or you are all hanging out with a bunch of your friends.. take this quarantine time to really reflect back on your self, on your relationship… the parts where you can essentially improve on. COMMUNICATE. This is your chance to be able to express your self, fully. Time away sometimes is good, its healthy.

P.S: It’s not all that bad. What will be terrible is when you dont practice social distancing. It’s imperative we combat this pandemic together, thats the only way forward. Please stay safe and keep everyone around you safe by STAYING HOME. Stay home, stay safe!
