The sequel’s first look is now the third most disliked Youtube video, facing rage of an anti-nepotism debate brewing post actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death
One of Bollywood’s most anticipated releases of the year Sadak 2 that stars a stellar cast of Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead just dropped its trailer and contrary to expectations, the trailer now stands as the third most disliked video on Youtube while also being the most disliked movie trailer.
The movie which is a sequel to the 90s’ classic Sadak starring Dutt and Pooja in the lead also marks Mahesh Bhatt’s return as a director after two decades. However, the movie that was already being slammed for its ‘nepotistic cast’ was immediately taken in crosshairs by the public as the trailer hit 4.2 million dislikes in the initial 24 hours. The movie trailer has since become the third most disliked Youtube video with 9.5 million thumbs down.
Meanwhile, according to an Indian daily, this is the dramatically unfavourable ‘like-dislike’ ratio till date.
Bhatt’s direction is taken by a double whammy of opposition ignited by the recent vendetta on nepotism andthe general public sentiment against the growing industry nepotism.
This is also not the first time that the Bhatts have faced flak post actor Sushant’s death as within days of his passing, Alia Bhatt lost more than 1.5 million followers on Instagram while a hate war surged onsocial media targeting several Bollywood clans and those associated with them.
