5 Effective Natural Remedies to Get Rid of Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin problem faced by people of various ages mainly due to excess melanin production, which results from excessive sun exposure or hormonal imbalances. Here are 5 effective natural remedies to help get rid of hyperpigmentation at home.

Avocado Face Pack

Avocados are rich in fatty acids, vitamin C and E and oleic acid, making avocados an excellent natural remedy for hyperpigmentation.
Mix the mashed avocado pulp of 1 avocado, 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of milk to form a paste. Apply the paste on the hyperpigmented areas. Leave it on until it dries and then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply this mask once daily.

Aloe Vera Gel and Honey Mask

Aloe vera contains aloin, a natural depigmenting compound that helps lighten skin and works as a nontoxic hyperpigmentation treatment.
Mix 3 tablespoons of aloe vera gel and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply the mask on the hyperpigmented areas. Leave it on for 20 minutes until it dries. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply this mask once daily for 2-3 weeks.

Multani Mitti Face Pack

Multani mitti has anti-tan properties and is rich in minerals which help cleanse, exfoliate and nourish the skin. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which eliminates the harmful effects of sun exposure. Papaya contains the papain enzyme which aids skin whitening.
Mix half cup of Multani mitti, oil from 2 vitamin E capsules, 1 tablespoon of papaya paste and half cup of water. Apply the mask on the hyperpigmented areas. Leave it on for 20 minutes until it dries. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply this once a week until you achieve the desired result.

Turmeric and Milk Mask

Turmeric has bleaching and anti-bacterial properties and milk cleanses, moisturizes and whitens the skin by exfoliating the hyperpigmented areas.
Mix 5 tablespoons of turmeric and 10 tablespoons of milk to form a paste. Apply the mask on the hyperpigmented areas. Then massage it slowly and gently in circular motions for about 5 minutes. Leave it on for 20 minutes until it dries. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply this mask once daily.

Orange Peel Face Pack

Orange peel contains citric acid which is a bleaching agent. This along with Multani mitti, lemon juice, honey and milk, becomes an excellent remedy for pigmented skin, dark spots and skin blemishes.
Mix 1 tablespoon of orange peel powder, 1 tablespoon of Multani mitti, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of milk to form a smooth paste. Apply the pack on the hyperpigmented areas and let it dry. Then massage the skin with wet fingers in circular motion for 2 minutes. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Apply this pack 3-4 times a week.
