by Sirbuland Khan

With the decade coming to an end, and with some of us still spending most of our time at home, it is the perfect chance to revisit some of the best comedy films of the 2010’s

The 2010’s was the time when Hollywood changed its norms for the better and broke through many long-set barriers. The decade also saw some of the best and most original comedy films Hollywood has evermade, giving us many iconic dialogues, scenes and characters especially with female leadsat the forefront.

21 Jump Street (2012)

On face value it’s just another film about two friends going on an adventure, but seeing two grown police officers go undercover into a high school to uncover a drug mafia is something that hasn’t been seen before.  Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill have one of the best chemistries on screen. They are perfect mixture of the good looking and the funny. This film is perfect for “Bad Boys” fans as it takes many notes from the book.

Bridesmaids (2011)

Bridesmaids, an iconic film of the decade as it was the first comedy movie with an all-female cast. No shocker; the list of powerhouses in the films such as; Kristen Wig, Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy made this film one of the best comedies of the decade. Creating situations that had never been seen before and due to its all-female cast gave the perfect opportunity for audiences to laugh their heads-off.

The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

The Grand Budapest Hotel is a film about a concierge who is wrongly framed for a murder and must flee to prove his innocence. The all-star cast such as Ralph Fiennes, Saoirse Ronan, Tilda Swanson and Bill Murray team up to give one of the most interesting and hilarious crime mystery films of the decade. The amazing cinematography and Miseen scene give audiences an experience like no other film in the decade.

Deadpool (2016)

Deadpool starring Ryan Reynolds in the titular role is a film which created a genre for itself. A superhero film that is also a comedy is something that doesn’t work on paper, but director Tim Miller and creator Fabian Nicieza changed that notion forever. The R-rated film explores certain comedic avenues which had not been done before which added to the feel and level of comedy in the movie.

Girls Trip (2017)

Girls Trip is a film with a black all female cast, with the likes of Queen Latifa, Tiffany Haddish and Jada Pinket-smith. The female is a girl power film like Bridesmaids but with the flavor of the African-American community. The sense of humour found in their culture has sincerely been portrayed and has shown the world that no one does comedy like a group of powerful funny women.
