The past few days have been disturbing to say the least. Trying to wrap our minds around what happened to Noor, what happened to Quratulain… to so many many women… It’s hard to believe that this country is a safe place to raise our daughters.
We have seen the names of victims flashed around the media, day in and day out. The name of Noor’s father has been plastered on every news channel and every reporting platform… but what about the parents who raised an animal like Zahir Jaffer? What about those individuals who knew that their son had history of abuse, who has rape allegations against himself in the UK, parents of the man who had held Noor hostage and then brutally murdered her? Where are their names ? Where are their pictures ?
Asmat Jaffer (mother of the murderer) is a practicing therapist in Islamabad and his father, Zakir Jaffer (father of the murderer), is a Director at Ahmed Jaffar & Co.
Why do we have to put the pressure on the victims’ families – always? When are we going to start holding parents accountable for the monsters they have raised? The monsters they have proudly protected and saved?
We can not sit quietly. Our minds and souls will not rest till we don’t see justice prevail. I refuse to raise my child in a country where murderers are protected the way this monster is being protected. All sorts of stories regarding his mental health are being brought up. The family was aware of his “troubled mind” then why was he allowed to assimilate in public? Why was he running his family’s business? Why was he not given the treatment that he needed? If he was a disturbed man, he needed to be sent off for treatment. And for that we blame his family.
For how long will money protect these animals ? How many Noors will we lose to them?
Please take a stand. Protest. Stand your ground. We can not let him get away. We need to hold him along with his parents accountable for what was done.
