How to Get Rid of Dark Circles and Under Eye Bags at Home

by Maham Asif

Have you been sleeping all day long but still seem to have dark circles and under eye bags that do not go away? Fatigue and lack of sleep are the most common causes of dark circles and under eye bags, however there are multiple other reasons for tired looking eyes. Check out these 5 simple ways to get rid of dark circles and under eye bags at home.

Elevate Your Head

Sleep deprivation can play a part in producing dark circles and under eye bags, however sometimes the position you sleep can cause you to have tired looking eyes in the morning even after 8 hours of sleep.
Elevating your head with a few pillows can prevent your eyes from looking swollen and puffy in the morning as raising your head will prevent fluid from pooling under your eyes.

Use a Cold Compress

A cold compress can reduce the appearance of puffy eyes and can eliminate dark circles by reducing swelling and constricting blood vessels.
Dip a metal spoon in a bowl full of ice-cold water for a few minutes. Then gently press the spoon onto the skin around your eye for 15-20 minutes. If the spoon starts to become warm dip it in the ice-cold water again.

Apply Tea Bags

The caffeine in the tea bags contains antioxidants that help stimulate blood circulation, shrink blood vessels, and reduce liquid retention beneath your skin.
Soak two black or green tea bags in hot water for five minutes. Then keep them in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes. Once they are cold, apply the teabags to your closed eyes for 10-20 minutes. Then rinse your eyes with cool water.

Use Cucumber Slices

Cucumbers have mild astringent properties that aid in lightening the skin and are full of vitamin K that help in shrinking the capillaries and reducing the visibility of dark circles.
Close your eyes and place a slice of cold cucumber on each eye, for about 10-15 minutes. Then rinse the area with water. For best results repeat this treatment twice a day.

Moisturize with Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant that helps remove free radicals present in your body to reduce inflammation and signs of aging.
At night before bed, apply a drop of oil to your under eye dark circles and gently massage it into the skin. Leave this on your skin overnight and rinse with warm water in the morning.
