Your Guide to Salon Perfect Hair & Makeup at Home for Quarant EID

by Amal Naveed

Covid-19 has gotten all our Eid plans in a bunch. But don’tworry, you can still celebrate Eid safely and in style. Unlike a usual Eid morning, this year, you may hesitate before booking an appointment at your favorite salon to get a blow-out and some makeup done.

It’s important to stay safe at home and observe social distancing when in public – but when you have the luxury of achieving your best look while avoiding all the paranoia of going out, what could be better?!
Here are some tips to fake a salon-style hairdo and a professional makeup look all from the comfort of your home.

How to do a picture-perfect makeup look all on your own:
Start off by perfecting your base – if you’re a full coverage girl or a minimal to no-makeup girl, do your thing!
Next, focus on your blush placement. We’re told brows change a person’s face completely, but so does the placement of your blush! Instead of applying blush to the sides of your face, apply it towards the front of your cheeks, more under the eye line.
Applying blush on the sides or stretching it out far like it’s some sort of blush contour will make you look older. Proper blush screams youth and that’s the makeup truth!

Highlight strategically with concealer to sculpt, this is known as reverse contour and helps sharpens the way you’ll bronze your skin.
Bake where you tend to crease or grase, hold your eyelid taut to perfect that wing and find the right eyeshadow shade to compliment your eye color.
Reach for jewel-toned eyeshadows for brown eyes and go for a gold highlighter (mix some into your foundation for the glow-from-within!) Always set with a good setting spray to keep the make-up on longer.

How to fake a salon hairdo at home:
Whether your go-to look is sleek straight hair, bouncy curls or a voluminous blow out, reassure yourself that all of these can all be achieved on your own – with just a little patience and what feels like an entire arm workout!

Always start out with heat protectant – evenly spray/apply this onto your hair before you begin to style it. The heat protectant will save your hair from the heat damage and avoid any split ends and dryness in the future.

The best way to straighten or curl your hair is by dividing it into sections. According to your hair’s length, you may opt for 2,4 or 6 divisions to make it easier to curl or straighten. Dividing will make the overall process faster as well as ensure you don’t miss out any section of your head.

Finish off with a serum – this will make your hair smell good, feel softer, eliminate any frizz and you’ll be able to see your hair shine from a mile away!
