Buttercup, Blossom and Bubbles are up and flying again as they are making headlines. The Powerpuff Girls are all set to hit the screens once again — this time in live-action

While taking a trip down memory lane, there are many classics that cross our mind as the elite ‘90s kids. One of them being our favourite all-girl cartoon The Powerpuff Girls. Watching the three sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup save their city Townsville from destruction was the most delightful part of our day just before we sat down for homework. But most importantly, the show taught us that not just Superman but girls can also save the day just as well.
While watching them as children was fun, one does wonder what the Professor’s girls would be like in 2020? Well, we might just find out.

Recently there have been several confirmed reports that the utopian girls are getting a live-action reboot at the CW. It will feature the sugar, spice, and everything nice girls – Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup swing and fling through their twenties in Townsville.

Craig McCracken who created the original Powerpuff girls animated series, which featured the three kindergarteners fighting their way through monsters and seeking justice. Whereas the live-action Powerpuff Girls will focus on the siblings’ journey to adulthood.

A synopsis of the show, via The Hollywood Reporter, reads:
“Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now, they’re disillusioned twenty-somethings who resent having lost the essence of their childhood to crime-fighting. When the world needs them more than ever, will they agree to reunite?”

Moreover, Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody and Veronica Mars’ Heather Regnier are scripting the show, together with producer Greg Berlanti (Love, Simon, and Supergirl). All three will executive produce the series with Sarah Schechter and David Madden of Berlanti Productions.
The release date and casting information are not made available as the series is still in the works. Until then, you can get all nostalgic and reminisce over the original Powerpuff Girls and its 2016 re-imaging on Hulu.
