Indian top court orders CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

Fans and family welcome decision as the country’s top investigation agency will now probe into the Bollywood actor’s unnatural death

Amid speculations and controversies surrounding the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the Indian Supreme Court has now ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the case on Wednesday morning.

The decision comes after the court held that the FIR registered in Bihar’s Patna requesting to transfer the case to the federal investigation agency was legitimate. Consequently, the Mumbai police that was till now been leading the investigation has been ordered to transfer all evidence including all electronics and gadgets recovered from the actor’s home to the bureau.
The development has been welcomed by fans and family of the actor while several Bollywood celebrities also applauded the verdict.

On June 14, the Chhhichhore actor was found dead at his home, while the cause of death at first was ruled a suicide; fans of the 34-year-old actor took over social media to demand a CBI probe into the case raising doubts over the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The campaign later gained momentum as several actors and politicians joined in and soon his family also demanded a federal investigation while the actor’s father levelled allegations against his ex-girlfriend.

The untimely death of the Kai Po Che actor not only left fans devastated but also outraged as they launched a tirade against industry families and slammed nepotism targeting several bigwigs such as Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Sonam Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor among others.
