The Ertugrul starlet called out CCPO Lahore Umer Shaikh over his appalling comments regarding the motorway gang-rape survivor
The Turkish starlet who has won over millions of Pakistanis with her role as Halime Sultan on the superhit period drama Diriliş: Ertuğrul recently took to her insta stories earlier today to call out Lahore CCPO Umer Shaikh over his sickening remarks regarding the survivor of the Lahore motorway gang-rape survivor.
The Lahore top cop in an interview following the incident resorted to victim blaming when asked about the incident by making statements such as the lady should have taken a more populated route or should have at least checked her fuel count and even suggested that women in Pakistan shouldn’t leave their homes at all at night.
Responding to a BBC video that played a clip of the very same interview, Esra called out the police official on his statement that he was surprised the woman was driving all by herself with her three children along. The Turkish actor reminded him that women can drive alone or with their children and it’s the police’s job to provide sufficient security for all.
“You’re okay with gangs’ presence on the roads but you think if a woman chooses the same routes there’s a right to rape and kill them,” she further blasted the official.
Esra also expressed her concern over the shocking ignorance of the police over this grave incident and asked him to change his mindset. “What a shame on you and people like yourself,” she added.
The motorway gang-rape where a mother of three children was raped in front of her kids has caused a national uproar with many now demanding a public hanging for the rapists.
Shaikh’s remarks were met with instant national criticism and he was massively panned by several celebrities, politicians and social activists along with thousands of others who were left shocked at his nonchalant and reckless comments.
