How to give yourself a facial at home

by Farah Khan

We all know how badly we have wanted to go to our favorite salon for a makeover since Covid19 hit us, but fret not. We have you covered with easy ways to give yourself a facial at home and keep your skin fresh.

All of us have been longing to go to the salon and get a nice facial to just give our face some rest, and well we thought of bringing the salon to your home in 5 easy steps.

Cleanse
The easiest way to start off is by cleansing your face and removing any amount of lotion, or makeup you have on your face, gently massage your face with your favorite cleanser, gently push the muscles of your face in upward motions while also working your cleanser in circular motions, to encourage an increase of blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, and wash it off with Luke warm water. Be careful not to use hot water as that tends to open the pores.

Exfoliate
Another important part in order to achieve that flawless looking skin is to exfoliate your skin. You can do this by avoiding any chemical products and that is by mixing half a cup of white or sugar with enough olive to make a paste and apply it to your face in circular motion. Let it sit for 10 minutes and wash away with warm water. This will leave your skin feeling soft and looking fresh.

Steam
Be careful about exposing your skin to hot steam, as it might open too many pores and that is NOT good for your skin. Not everyone has a facial steamer at home thus, you can boil pot with water, pour it in a bowl and allow your face to hover a good few inch above for a few minutes. Keep in mind not to stay too close to the bowl.

Mask
Not everyone has a mask at home, specifically during these harsh times, thus we have got you covered by giving you the best advise on how to make a face mask at home. All you will have to do is mix 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white. Apply a thin layer to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it with Luke-warm water and tap dry with paper towel.

Seal
Last but not the least, after applying a mask to your face you do need to moisturize it. It doesn’t matter if you have dry or oily skin, moisturizing is the key to have soft and fresh looking skin, thus after your facial apply a pea size of moisturizer to your face and massage your way through it until it has dried out.
