by Farah Khan

Lady Diana was for certain way ahead of her time in every aspect of life, but one cannot deny the fact that she had an impeccable style and memorable looks.

Diana, the people’s princess is remembered as a kind philanthropist and a person who left behind a legacy which obviously extends beyond the reach of fashion, but with the hype of the new season of The Crown, and introducing the much awaited character: The Princess of Wales, we cannot help but break down the top 5 iconic looks of Diana recreated.

The Wedding dress

Of course, The Crown had to go all out in recreating the iconic wedding look. The designer behind these iconic looks, Amy Roberts made sure that some of her dresses were the exact replica of the original dresses. We can clearly see that the makers of the show tried to bring alive the spirit of the late princess into the series through her attire and fashion sense.

Engagement dress

Another one of iconic looks which is recreated on The Crown, is the famous blue suit which she wore for her engagement announcement to Prince Charles. The designer remembered this moment so well, that she chose to perfectly recreate the royal blue and white outfit. And we see no fault here, everything from the colour to the design on the shirt is on point.

In her yellow overalls

Originally Diana wore this outfit in 1981, but in the Crown Lady Diana Spencer is seen adorning the outfit after she approaches Prince Charles and that is when he decided to get to know the future Princess of Wales a little more. After she married the prince, she often used to comment on this outfit saying that was her original style. The adjustment of the cardigan was something the costume designer added as an addition thus enhancing Diana’s signature casual styles.

Pink Plaid outfit

Another famous look was the pink plead outfit which Diana wore at Highgrove in 1986, Amy Roberts the designer saved this as one of the inspirations looks in the Crown during her engagement period as shown in the series. Lady Diana appeared to be the sort of person who had a bit of an edgy side, but also seemed like she wanted to keep her attire a bit more casual yet feminine.

Ruffled Blue Dress

The ruffled blue dress which Corrin wore in the series has a striking resemblance to the blue gown Lady Diana wore on her tour of Australia with Prince Charles. The production team has done a marvelous job in recreating the exact dance sequence between the royal couple that it almost seems uncanny and difficult to differ from the original.
