All of us want healthy, beautiful and strong hair. But due to changing weather conditions, lifestyle alterations, stagnancy and several other factors we are unable to maintain the quality of our hair. Quality of hair also depends on our genetics and age but there is one thing we can do to redeem the damage and avoid any further harm - eat a balanced diet.

The right nutrients not only promote hair growth but also stop a receding hairline. Here are 5 hair nourishing foods you must try:

Eggs

Eggs have protein and they are a natural source of Biotin. Eating adequate protein is important for hair growth because hair follicles are made of protein and so is all our body. Lack of protein further promotes hair fall which we do not realise. Biotin is essential to produce the hair protein called ‘Keratin’.  They are also a great source Selenium, making them one of the easiest foods to eat for healthy hair. More, if you are not very fond of going to spas for Keratin treatment, this is your food!

Yogurt

Unsweetened yogurt is full of protein and probiotics. Probiotics are important for gut bacteria (the good ones) that help absorb nutrients in your body. It also contains Vitamin B5, or Pantothenic acid, and they help with reversing hair thinning. Therefore, start eating yogurt during lunch because it is beneficial.

Pumpkin

Pumpkins have Vitamin A, Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Zinc. They are also loaded with Vitamin B9 which improves blood circulation on the scalp thus giving hair that extra added nourishment. Antioxidants in them help fight premature loss of hair and receding hair line. Pumpkins are known for keeping scalp infections away. So, now you have a good reason to drink those pumpkin spice lattes!

Spinach

Spinach comes with Iron, and Vitamins A and C, all of which strengthens hair follicles and aids in rejuvenation. Vitamin A helps the skin produce Sebum. This oily substance helps moisturize the scalp to keep hair healthy aka giving you natural silky hair. Approximately a cup of spinach provides up to 50% of your daily Vitamin A need. Iron, making up a large portion of Spinach, helps red blood cells carry oxygen throughout the body to increase metabolism and fasten hair repair. Iron deficiency is also a reason for hair fall which often goes unnoticed.

Nuts

Nuts are your go-to source of variety of essential nutrients to promote hair growth. A handful of almonds may provide you with an approximate of 20% Vitamin E. They also provide a variety of B Vitamins, Zinc and essential fatty acids. A deficiency of any of these nutrients is a major hair fall culprit.
