5 Classic Pakistani Dramas That Are a Must-Watch

Pakistani television serials are known for their enigmatic plots and rich acting and direction. And with that said how can we forget the classics which had strong story lines and noteworthy acting

Although there are few such series to name which are doing really well today, but how can we forget the classics which had a strong powerful story lines, with actors delivering their dialogues gracefully and leaving an empowering message for the audience to reminiscence. Well we have listed the top 5 classic Pakistani serials to watch.

Dhoop Kinaray

Written by one of Pakistan’s well sought female writers Hasina Moin, Dhoop Kinarey is a drama which revolves around the story of two doctors, Dr. Ahmer Ansari played by Rahat Kazmi, and Dr. Zoya, played by Marina Khan, who are destined to be together under strange circumstances.  The story is revolves their lives at the hospital as well as their private lives. The drama became a huge success during the late 1980s and has said to be one of the best directed serials of its time.

Dhuwan

Based on the story of 5 friends, each with a different background, they set out to bring a positive change in to the society. Thus, their story being as each friend plays a part in doing something good for society through their profession such as a doctor, a police officer and journalist. The friends begin to train as a crack squad to fight terrorists and drug dealers. A fun fact from the drama, it was written by Ashir Azeem who served as a civil services officer.

Tanhaiyan

One of the most watched Pakistani dramas till date, Tanhaiyan has probably been watched in every household over a dozen times. With the best screenplay, a firecracker of humor, and a strong cast staring, Marina Khan, Shehnaz Sheikh, Asif Raza Mir, Badar Khalil and Behroze Sabzwari, the drama is a cult classic. Written once again by Hasina Moin, the serial revolves around heartbreak, loss of loved ones, but also highlights the importance of how good and bad goes hand in hand.

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie

Another classic drama, filled with emotions, which had everyone glued to their screens. The series revolves around romance, and comedy, while reflecting the Pakistan Army’s operational involvement in the Bosnian War as well as the conflict of Siachen. It is based on the lives of three individuals, Gulsher, Faraz and Kashif, who enter the PMA as army officers. The story is reflecting upon how our country’s young army officers sacrifice their lives for their country without blinking an eye.

Khuda ki Basti

Written by Shaukat Siddiqui in 1957, the series, revolves around life in the slum in Karachi after the independence of 1947. The drama was made in 1969, by the advisory committee of famous intellects such as Faiz Ahmed Faiz. The drama revolves around the tragic lives of a family fallen on hard times in the slums and how they try to overcome the difficulties in their lives. The drama was loved by everyone so much that it was frequently telecasted on PTV.
